Sewing, Crocheting and Reading

I have just been busy sewing, crocheting, cleaning and reading lately. Just being in my own little world. I haven't read a book in about 4 years and so with my sister Cathy encouragement I started reading again. I read the book "Plain Jayne" several weeks ago and I just finished "A Million Little Pieces" this morning. I really enjoyed both books and I was kind of sad when I finished them. I have another book though that I'm going to start reading today though. The truck broke down and hopefully Earl will be able to get it fixed soon so I can get another book from the library this weekend. I've finished up several projects in the last month too. I made a black hat for my sister, hot pads, dish cloths, fairies, toadstools, carrots and odds and ends of other things. I've been trying to sort through junk and get rid of some stuff and just trying to keep on the daily household chores (which is hard for me...my mind drifts in to many other directions), but I'm trying. Anyway, here are a few pictures of some of the things I've finished up lately.

I made 2 of these packages up for my OWOH giveaways.

I crocheted around these flannel receiving blankets that I had bought for my niece Emily. I think the brown edging really sets them and I can't wait to see her and Andrew's new little boy in them. He is due in a few weeks and everyone is so excited!

One World One Heart 2010

My OWOH Giveaway is now CLOSED!
Thanks to all that entered!!

Are you ready for an adventure into the world of blogging? The wonderful Lisa has organized One World One Heart again this year and is ready to start our journey. So, let me warn you as you grab your Magic Carpet that you will be discovering some wonderful new friends and possibly win some wonderful treasures along the way from all over the world. Be sure and tell your spouses, kids and bosses that for the next 3 weeks you are going to be busy on your Magic Carpet as you tour blogland. So grab some coffee and have fun!
My giveaway isn't the most exciting, but it is practical and useful (kind of like me!) so if you would like to win a potholder (there are 11 squares of fabric in each potholder so you don't burn your little fingers!) and 2 dishcloths to help make your adventures in the kitchen a little cheerier then just leave me a comment and I'll enter you to win a set. I'll use a random number generator to pick the winner on Feb. 16, 2010. Winners can be from any where in the world, because this is an international event.

I'll be giving away one set to every 100 people that leave me a comment on this post. If not that many people enter than I will add a couple of surprises to this package. I will also try to accommodate the winners color choices. So if you'd like a chance to win a set of my potholders and crocheted dishcloths please leave me a comment and have a great time on your Magic Carpet Ride!!

Oh, make sure you go to Lisa blog and look at her sidebar to see the list of hundreds of other bloggers who have tickets to your Magic Carpet Ride.

My OWOH Winners are...........

I picked option #5 on Lisa's OWOH giveaway to select my winners. It was to have a husband/wife/child/friend/coworker etc to pick a # between 1 and the number of entrants that I had.

So Ezie picked #2 which is Eileen from Art Slaves and Mallory picked #18 which happens to be the sweet Lindsay-ann from The Cross Stitch House.

Thanks to all who entered! I haven't really had time to visit many of the over 900 bloggers who participated in OWOH so over the next several weeks I hope to go blog hopping and see some of the cool blogs.

One World One Heart

My Giveaway has closed. Thanks for all who entered and left such nice comments!!

Lisa "oceandreamer" Swifka is hosting One World One Heart again this year. Many thanks to Lisa for giving us all the opportunity to participate in such a fun event again!! The event runs from Jan.19-Feb.11 and prizes will be announced on the Feb. 12.

According to Lisa, "The whole idea behind doing this and trying to get as many as possible to join in, was and is to meet new and wonderful people........... Sometimes we may live on separate continents or at either end of the same country or even discover you hail from the same general area. By paying attention, by connecting with others, we are creating a circle of amazing individuals who can literally enhance our lives and we can enhance theirs."

I participated for the first time last year and I had so much fun and came away with the most amazing feeling. I developed friendships and found some amazing blogs. So far there are over 200 participants so get out there and meet some new people and sign up for some giveaways!

I will be giving away this tote bag that I made. It is springy looking and I am trying to think spring thoughts because it is freezing here!!!

and to another person
I will be giving away one of these hats that I crochet.
I make them out of 100% cotton crochet thread.

You can participate and not be doing a giveaway yourself. That's fine!!! I will also ship my giveaways internationally. So have fun and enjoy OWOH.
Please leave a comment on this post for the giveaway

The Party's Started and Your Invited to Attend!!

It’s Blogiversary Time

My Birthday isn’t until the middle of the month so I’ll save the Birthday stuff for awhile. I don’t know my exact blogiversary date, because dummy here, did her first post on a text rather than a post and I must have deleted it. So, since I know it was this at the beginning of September, why not celebrate the whole month. Sounds good, huh?

Lets get the boring stuff out of the way first
and then I can move on to some fun things.

When I started my blog a year ago it was rather depressing. It was more of a journal to myself with the “dare” that somebody might read it. I was really depressed at the time and my blog definitely showed it. I was curious to see if someone might peek into my thoughts and think, hey, she's okay, she seems like a really nice person. I don't know, kind of weird, I do know that!

Then in February I read about the One World One Heart Giveaway. I was touched by all the nice comments and when looking at other people’s blog discovered that, Hey, maybe I wasn’t so weird.
There were other women out there that were going through a lot of the same things I was. I was also totally impressed with the art work and the talented woman that I discovered through OWOH. I was determined after OWOH to start doing more blogging and to actually leave a comment on other people’s blogs. It was hard at first. It was hard to break into the blogging community. I don’t know if some bloggers want to know your really “there for them” or just cruising by. It took awhile to get other people to actually look at my blog though. I thought about giving up several times, but I enjoyed blogging, so why not continue.

The more swaps I joined it seemed the more people I “met”. So besides having fun doing swaps I was meeting new bloggers and they actually visited my blog and eventually started leaving comments.

Now I can’t wait to see what all my blogger friends are doing and how their lives are going. I love to see what creative things everyone has come up with and am totally amazed by how creative the woman that are out there in blog land are.

Thanks all of you for making my life more meaningful and fun!!

So what I think I’ll do is I’ll have a weekly giveaway for the month of September.

  1. I’ll draw a name every Sunday evening and then start the work week off with a new prize.
  2. I’ll also be posting some games and fun things to do. Hopefully, you guys think there fun!! I love planning parties, BUT, I suck at giving them, so…….we’ll see how this turns out!!
  3. I also plan on having a featured “guest” every week to show off some of the amazing talented woman out there in blogland.

Here's What you gotta do to enter to win a prize:

  1. I made up a badge for my Blogiversary and if you add it to your blog that would be 1 chance for you to win a prize. I will make a list of my party guests so other people can visit your blogs too. Just leave me a comment on this post and let me know if your joining the party.

    http://ificouldsetmysoulfree.blogspot.com/2008/09/partys-started-and-your-invited-to.html

  2. Each week if you do a “Create A Link” for my blog I will enter your name 1 extra time for the giveaway.

  3. Everyday that you join the party and leave me a comment I will enter your name another time.

  4. You don't need to have a blog to enter ---- you just won't get the extra chance of posting the badge. But you can still do everything else.

  5. Yes, members of my family can enter. Some of them do have blogs and seeing as how I don't live close to any of my siblings I want them to join in on the fun too!! I am a fair and honest person and I WILL NOT just pick a family members name out of the hat because they are my family!!!!

Okay, I've changed the entries a little bit.

  1. I'm giving you one entry for each week for adding the badge to your blog.
  2. I'm giving you another entry for that weeks drawing every time you leave a comment.
  3. Then if you participate and post the different question and answer games I will enter your name into the drawing again for that week.

I will be adding new things to the prize packages every couple of days as I make or find things to include. I’m not sure if I will show the actual prize or send the winner a wrapped up surprise package???? I’m still debating over that one. I'll post something about the prizes tomorrow.

So anyway,

please help me celebrate my Blogiversary month

and come

*P*A*R*T*Y*!!!!

Hearts for OWOH Winners

It's Valentines Day

Good Morning,

It's finally here, Valentines Day! The kids went to school with their valentines gifts for their teachers and principal and cookies. Ezie and Mallory were both so excited! Mallory made up extra little goodie bags all by herself for her class. Mally is such a giving person! Jace just had his speech therapy and give his therapist, Kathy, a little something. He LOVED the gummy hearts that she gave him! Earl and I decided not to buy each other anything for Valentines Day. He did get me a really nice card though with a sweet message written in it. That's really all I wanted.

Today is the giveaway day for ONE World-ONE Heart! I went on and had the kids draw one name for every 25 people who entered mine. Ezie and Mallory each drew three names. They were so excited to be part of the giveaway!! Okay would you guys like to know who won?? My winners are:

Angela ----- http://www.funkycatstudio.com/

I have added something extra to my prizes. All six winners will also get a heart that is made out of my handmade paper and my collage paper.

Thanks to everyone who entered! I really enjoyed looking at people Blogs and fully intend to go back and look at the blogs better now that I'm not rushing to enter everyone's giveaways---that I didn't win. Man, I entered everyone and won nothing--except some really nice comments on my stuff and the chance to look at some really great blogs!!! I think everyone who participated came out a winner!! Thank you so much Lisa for putting all this together this year!!

Thanks so much and have a wonderful day!!

What IS ONE World-ONE Heart?

It is a blog-wide giveaway event. The original idea behind this was to bring bloggers together from around the world who may never ordinarily meet. It closes the gap of the blog community and enables us to interact, discover new and wonderful people, and in the process possibly win a prize or many prizes along the way. Last years event had nearly 100 participants and many connections were made because of it......friendships that are still going strong.

This years host of ONE World-ONE Heart is Lisa Oceandreamer from Heart of the Nest and Imagination Cafe. To get information about this years event the blog with that info is http://oneworldevent.blogspot.com/2008/01/this-years-event-information.html You can also see which bloggers have signed up to participate in the LOVE TRAIN.

How to Sign Up: Please leave a comment AND a back link to your blog, so I'll be able to notify you if you win. If you do not have a blog and would like to enter, please be sure to leave your email address in your comment. I will accept comments up to 11:59 EST February 13th. The winner will be notified February 14th. I will pick a winner by having my kids draw names out of a hat. Winners will be announced on February 14th. After the winners have been announce I will need to get your address so I can mail you your prize.

I have the pictures of my prizes below. There are 4 prizes. I have 4 Sheets of my Handmade Paper (2 Pink and 2 White with a splash of Aqua blue and 4 Sheets of Handmade Paper with Potpourri added). There is a tag with a fairy on it that is made out of my collage paper and my handmade paper. I also have a Cone that you can put on your doorknob or dresser draw knob and fill with pretty things.
