Getting Creative on a Budget

Jace got invited to a little girl at schools birthday party this weekend.

So, I got busy sewing.

 I made her a tic-tac-toe fabric board and felt X & O pieces

a lined bag to put the game & pieces in

and a fleece boa style scarf and two hair pom-poms for her ponytail.

I bought 1 yard of fleece and was able to get 2 scarves
(one for a child and one for a toddler)
8 larger hair pompoms
&
8 medium hair pompoms.

Not to bad for a piece of fabric that cost me $4.54!

I also made some things for a Peppermint Pixie swap I was in.

I had the doll pieces already and I just added pipe cleaners for the body,
a felt dress, a crocheted shawl with a matching hat and
I crocheted the legs and added little pompoms for shoes.
I also added little candycanes for the pixies wings.
Not to bad for things I had on hand.

Then I made a mitten ornament out of felt and added a plastic candy cane.

I also made a candy cane matchbox ornament
and some goodies for the inside that I had on hand.

I painted some clothespins & homemade peppermint bark.

I've been trying to become more frugal and creative at the same time.

I think I did pretty good!

Sewing Lessons and Fun Times!

Mallory is going to a Birthday Party today and wanted to buy a small gift and then make a gift for her friend. So she decided on some cute pink flannel fabric with Princess Kitty Cats on it and made a pillow for her friend and a smaller one for her friends dolls.
I took a picture of the end result,
BUT,
it isn't on my camera and I've already wrapped the present.

Then Ezie had to make something to,
and,
YES,
Ezie is in pink silk pajama's,
what can I say,
the boy LOVES pink?!?!

Here's Ezie's big fleece pillow that he made.

Then I made some little pom-poms ponytail holders for Mallory and her friend since the party is in the High School Musical theme. I didn't have any red fleece to put in the pom-poms to match the school colors, so white will have to do. (These pom-poms look really cute in the girls hair and the make really nice little cheerleading pom-poms for dolls too.)
and then I made a High School Musical tote bag for Mallory and her friend.
We all had fun sewing and everything turned out pretty darn good!
EXCEPT,
Daddy is currently lost while taking Mallory to the party
and
NOT
A very happy camper!

Yo-Yo's and Pom-Pom's

I've been making yo-yo's and then I got this idea off of Queenly Thing's Blog the other day, who had gotten it off of Molly Chicken's Blog, to make fabric scraps Pom-Pom's. I think it turned out so cute!! I can't wait to make more!

I like the word yo-yo and actually pom-pom is pretty cute too! My sister, Cathy, teaches English as a Second Language in the evenings to adults. She said her students were asking her about yo-yo's the other day. Cathy said they'd say the word yo-yo and laugh, that just saying the word brought a smile to their faces. So, I guess I'm not so crazy after all!! Right??

What is everybody else making?? What word do you think is kinda funny or cute?

Check out my kids, Ezie and Mallory's blogs too see what's going on in their lives! They're pretty cute little blogs, if I may say so myself!!

Fringed Fleece Scarves and Pom Pom Hair Bows

My grandson Anthony in the Cheetah Scarf I made for Mallory

Well, I finally finished something. I didn't do everything on my list, but I did complete one thing. My 7 year old daughter, Mallory, is a flag football cheerleader. I made these fringed fleece scarves and Pom pom hair bows for her and the other 10 girls on her team and then one for the junior coach too. So 12 scarves and 12 bows are DONE!! They were really easy, but time consuming. The girls and their moms really seemed to like the hair pom poms so I am making extra bows to sell. I hate charging people for things though so we'll see how I do??? My 16 year old daughter, Lexie, said I never give myself enough credit for what I do. She's right, I don't, but I'm going to try. Wish me luck!!

Thanks for listening!
