We Work Well Together

I was outside yesterday trying to get the dirt off of the roots of the clumps of grass I had dug up for my garden area (previous post) and it was taking me forever. I was using my hands and a little hand rake and then I went to the big rake, but still it was taking a long time and my body wasn't enjoying it very much. Earl and I were talking and I told him I need a big sieve. I asked him if he had any of the wire left from the bunny cage that I could use and he told me to use the bunny cage (the bunnies were released a on July 3). The bunny cage worked perfect!

We sat the cage upside down and I shoveled piles of dirt on top of the wire.

This is the clumps of grass that I was trying to get the dirt off of. I just grabbed the clumps and ran them over the wire like a grater.

Then I just had to use my hands to rub the dirt through and it separated the rocks and the roots from the dirt.

Afterwards I had a nice big pile of finely sifted dirt and next to it a pile of grass, roots, rocks and sticks. The dirt was so fine afterwards and felt really nice. I was impressed!! This process cut my time and wear and tear on the old bod down by hours. I couldn't believe how much faster I could get my work done. Good thing because I have a lot more clumps of grass waiting for me!

I've always thought Earl and I worked well together and this is just another one of those times. We tend to know what each other is thinking and Earl is great at giving me ideas on not only my gardening but my craft projects too. Thanks hon!
