I'm Addicted!

One of my addictions is Facebook. I have been addicted for several months now. I have found Facebook to be not only be a fun way to communicate with my family, but a way to talk more to blogger friends, spend way to much time playing games, reconnecting with some old friends and recently a way to help fill in a huge piece of my genealogy. I love having Instant Messaging conversations with people and getting to know my nieces and grand daughter better too.

I have reconnected with friends of mine all the way back from elementary school. My friends and I from middle school have really enjoyed talking to each other and sharing things about each others lives from the last 30 some years.

Last week I saw someone with the last name of my Great great grandfather so I sent her a message and ask her if she new of him. She gave me the name of someone else who has done quite extensive research on that family line and he has filled in the missing pieces to my geneaolgical puzzle. I was stuck on my Great great grandfathers side because he immigrated to the US from Germany and changed the spelling of his last name. This wonderful person on Facebook was not only able to fill in the names of my ancestors but some family secrets that I have been wondering about. I can't wait to start doing research on that side to see what else I can find now!

So if you think Facebook is just a teen or singles thing......well, it isn't. I just wanted to share some of the wonderful things that I have found through Facebook and invite you to join in! Steve and I were just talking about the same thing. Facebook is amazing in that people of all ages enjoy and can connect together. I love spending more time with you there too!

That is so great about your genealogy missing piece being found!
I agree, Facebook has changed my life as I have new/old friends. Been to several get-togethers with former school chums-even a lady who only lives 10 miles from me (didn't know this) and was in the same kindergarten class! That was 45 yrs ago! : )
I enjoy the games too.
Oh-even kids I babysat with are on there and they don't remember me, but I can see them as grown-ups-you know how you 'always wondered' about 'so and so'? : )

Hi Sherry
It sounds like you are enjoying facebook very much. I hope you still keep blogging. So many blogging friends have disappeared to facebook never to be heard of again. I am resisting the temptation to join.

I'm staying loyal to blogging! And I like Facebook too. I'm new- just finally got in several days ago. It's neat that they have the chat option without having you or the other person download IM,MSN or YM - just to chat! Genius!. It's all right there! Hugs!
