Selvages and Patchwork

I'm making a quilt, hopefully, for myself using selvages and scraps of fabric.
It's been fun putting these squares together.
I can be kind of creative and remember the things I made for people out of the scraps.

These squares are approx. 28 inches square

 so......

I have lots more scrapping and sewing to do.

This project is a work in progress,
a fun, stress free project
that I hope will turn into a beautiful quilt!

Super Easy, Moist and Scrumptious Apple Crumb Cake

I had found a recipe on Pinterest the other day that sounded pretty good and really easy,
which is always a plus for me!

The cake calls for a box of cake mix, a can of any flavor of pie filling and 3 eggs.
Simple enough,
but I had to upgrade it a little!

So here's my version of the cake.
  1. a box of white cake mix (that's what I had on hand)
  2. 3 eggs
  3. 1 can of apple pie filling
  4. 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  5. 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
  6. 1 teaspoon vanilla
I mixed the eggs and the cake mix together until all the dry was wet and then added everything else.  I only mixed it with the mixer for about 30 seconds, just enough to get it all combined.  I put it in a greased 9x13 cake pan

and

then I added my daughter Mallory's favorite muffin topping.

  1. 1 stick of butter
  2. 1 cup of brown sugar
  3. 12 Tablespoons of flour
  4. 2 Tablespoons of cinnamon
  5. 1 cup of  dry oatmeal

I just mixed all the ingredients together for a minute or so with the mixer and then sprinkled it over the top of the cake.  I then baked it at 350 for 30 minutes or so.

Moist, full of flavor and super easy!

Happy 2nd Birthday Owen!

Today is my Grandson Owens Birthday!

Lexie is having a mustache party for Owen today and
found  this shirt on Etsy for $20.00.
Very cute, but a little pricey.

So Lexie asked me if I could try to replicate the shirt.
Here's the one I made for the price of an undershirt and some of my
scraps of fabric, felt and ribbon.

Not to bad!

and here's Owen
wearing his shirt Nana made for him.

Isn't Owen a cutie?!?!?

My DIL made this up using the pictures of my 5 oldest boys. So funny!
