Going through Perimenopause

"Symptoms of Perimenopause can begin as early as 10-15 years before menses completely stop. Women in their late 30's, 40's and 50's may transition in and out of perimenopause state many times before they finally enter menopause. If you are currently experiencing symptoms such as irregular periods, heavy bleeding, hot flashes, sleep disruption, headaches, dry eyes, vaginal changes, hair loss, weight gain, loss of libido or extreme emotional distress, you may be relieved to know that these are all common signs of perimenopause.

Along with the more obvious changes listed above, many of my perimenopausal patients find their short-term memory impairment or a lack of focus to be very irksome. These cognitive effects of hormonal imbalance are frequently overlooked in mainstream discussions about perimenopause. Yet fuzzy thinking and an inability to multitask can definitely be traced to your physical state, as can increased anxiety, fatigue, depression and drastic mood swings. These symptoms are actually signals being thrown up by your body to make you stop in your tracks and take notice."

Okay, I think this really sucks!! I have had about 12 of these symptoms for the last few years now. Who knew going through menopause could take 10-15 years and the age you started your period doesn't even make a difference. Okay, I started having my periods the week before my 9th birthday. I'll tell you, it really was hard to understand at that age! I don't wish it on any girl, but then to have to go through my periods ending for up to 15 years. Come on!@!@!@! I really think our bodies need to rethink this whole perimenopause and menopause thing!!

I thought I was going through menopause 3 years ago and then found out I was pregnant. I didn't mind the pregnancy I was just shocked considering I had a tubal. I wouldn't trade my little guy for the world and I know it was God's plan for me to have him. I have always loved being pregnant anyway.

I thought I was going crazy with the fuzzy brain thing. I can't keep on track and I am so forgetful lately. I think this is the worse symptom and I really think something needs to be done about it!! The author of the above article is right, it is "very irksome"!

The article above says that "you may be relieved to know that these are all common signs of perimenopause." Well, unbelievably, I was relieved when my doctor told me I was having symptoms of perimenopause. I thought I was going nuts! I knew about the night sweats, hot flashes, vaginal dryness, and some mood changes, but the fuzzy memory thing really bothers me!

Alright, I had to get this whole menopause thing out. Has anyone else had the memory problems that is or has gone through perimenopause?? Please comment and let me know what it is like for you.

Thanks for listening!

Sherry

Yep. I've been going through these things too. I am 42. My doctor told me I might be going through this and so I set out to do some research. I found all the symptoms that you listed, and I have a bunch of them too. I just hope I don't have wait another 10+ years to be done with this.

Thanks for sharing your info.
