Anyway, I started to iron the bag and something just didn't feel right. I take the bag off and look inside and look what happened to the lining!! It melted and got a hole in it. This would be one of the only times my mom would have sworn when we were kids and I did not neglect to follow in her foot steps. Damn! I had the whole bag done except for top stitching. Now I have to rip out the lining and redo that whole part.
I had to have Earl go to Wal-Mart this morning and buy me some more black fabric. I told him to get cotton or a cotton blend and the sales lady kept telling him, "NO, I'm sure she wants the nylonor a nylon/poly blend for lining." Earl stuck to his guns and got me the cotton. I'm not taking my chances on it melting again! Well, today I'll try to finish the tote bags and hopefully they'll turn out right this time! Wish me luck!

Oh dear...........I had that happen to a dress of mine once! I was just trying to get a little wrinkle out and sizzle, pop there's a big melted hole!!!
I don't trust my iron or fabric unless it's all cotton!
Hang in there :)
Hi Sherry
Sorry to hear everything is going wrong with your sewing. I hope you have better luck now you have your cotton. Isn't it strange how days go like that sometimes?
If you fancy Stalking Stella again she is in Maryland now. She really does get around that girl!!

Sherry,
That sounds like my kind of luck with sewing...I always seem to be re-doing something!!

Thanks for sharing Sherry, lets me know I am not the only target the devil is picking on this week. Hugs!
eek. i know exactly what you're talking about. so frustrating!
i hope you're having a very happy new year despite crafting annoyances. hugs.
I could hear you and mom both saying, "Shit." Not a lot of bad words ever used around our house growing up but when they were, you knew it wasn't a good thing. Sorry about the iron. One time when winter shorts were in style, mom made me a pair of suede shorts. I was in a hurry and ironed them on the right side instead of the wrong side and left a big iron imprint. I was so mad at myself.
Love you,
Cathy
I have days like this all the time! Melinda
